A walk down Marmontova Street leads to the Riva, Split’s stunning seaside promenade, while in the opposite direction, Marjan Forest Park unfolds – a natural haven perfect for escaping the city’s energy.

Diocletian’s Palace

The heart of Split, this massive Roman palace was built by Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. Today, it’s a living part of the city with homes, shops, and cafes inside its ancient walls.

Peristyle Square

The central courtyard of Diocletian’s Palace, where you can admire stunning Roman columns and even see a Sphinx brought from Egypt. It’s a great place to soak in the history.

Cathedral of Saint Domnius

Originally Diocletian’s mausoleum, this is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman buildings still in use. Climb the bell tower for an amazing view of Split.

Temple of Jupiter

A small but impressive temple dedicated to the Roman god Jupiter, turned into a Baptistery in the 6th century. Look out for the well-preserved carved ceiling and a black granite Sphinx at the entrance.

Golden Gate (Porta Aurea)

One of the four main entrances to Diocletian’s Palace, this grand gateway was used by the emperor himself.

Vestibule of Diocletian’s Palace

A circular structure that once served as the entrance to the emperor’s private quarters. The acoustics here are amazing – sometimes, you’ll hear local singers performing.

Gregory of Nin Statue

A towering bronze statue of a medieval Croatian bishop. Rubbing his big toe is said to bring good luck!

Prokurative (Republic Square)

A stunning 19th-century Venetian-style square, inspired by St. Mark’s Square in Venice. It’s a cultural hotspot, hosting concerts and events throughout the year.

Marjan Hill and the 13th-Century Churches

If you want a mix of history and nature, hike up Marjan Hill to find old chapels hidden among the trees, along with breathtaking views of Split.
